Hi! I’m Stephanie – or Steph. Writing helps me understand…me. A bit of trial by fire journaling. If I’m going to share with you – and you deserve only the best – I want to make sure I take the time to truly examine how I feel and how I interpret my experiences.
I grew up in the middle of North Carolina in a large metropolitan area full of people of all colors, cultures and backgrounds. This area is hugely influenced by higher education, medicine, research, and technology. I went to college and became a Registered Nurse. I started working with cancer patients as a nurse in 2009.
At the age of 26, I decided to move to a small town outside of Anchorage, Alaska. I then began a completely different education of living in the Last Frontier. These experiences are what initially prompted me to start blogging – all of which you can find on this site. While I was in Alaska I went to graduate school to become a Nurse Practitioner, I met my husband, and my mother died of cancer. After living there for nearly five years, I moved back to North Carolina – this time settling into a small nook of the Blue Ridge Mountains where we currently live today.
During the workday, you may find me in a cancer clinic with patients, at a Crossfit gym with my friends, or sitting in a coffee shop writing as a freelance healthcare copywriter. My weekends are spent with friends and families enjoying good food and breweries and embracing the outdoors.
November Blue is a place where you’ll find me sharing stories about myself or experiences which have been shared with me. The way my emotions affect me and how I process this thing called life permeates into my writing. Remember how you had to show your work during math tests? I kind of consider November Blue as my show of work. As my way of showing how I arrived at the best conclusion. Thankfully, there’s not right or wrong – it’s simply my reality and my consciousness being turned into 1s and 0s on this website for you to read.
Since my life is heavily influenced by science, I’ll often throw in some background data and maybe links to research articles from time to time. If there’s a topic you’d like to learn more about – please let me know! I’d love to know what inspires your curiosity and what you can’t learn enough about.
Thanks for taking the time – hope to chat soon.
xoxo, Steph
